Rich East Brother 2 Brother program participates in 11th Annual "The Ties That Bind" Event
Recently, the Rich East Brother 2 Brother program visited Prairie State. The college in conjunction with members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Theta Mu Lambda Chapter, had the 11th Annual The Ties That Bind on March 2 at the college, which is part of the college’s Male Success Initiative.  
Board of Education Meeting Update
The Regular Meeting of the Board of Education for March 21, 2017 has been reschduled to March 28, 2017. 
Rich Central's Camara Mackey and Christina Thompson attend Deca State Competition
Congratulations to Camara Mackey and Christina Thompson, whom both demonstrated competency in their role plays, career cluster and economics exam for their Principles of Business Management & Administration event. They competed with over 1300 students at the DECA State Competition in Rosemont. Great job Camara and Christina! 
Juniors will take the SAT on Wednesday, April 5, 2017
Dear RTHS District 227 Parents and Guardians:

On Wednesday, April 5, 2017, District 227 Juniors will take the SAT, and is also a non-attendance day for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors.

The SAT is an official exam, and the scores are accepted by colleges and universities for admission and scholarships.

For April 5th, students are reminded to get a good night’s sleep, enjoy a healthy breakfast, and to bring their student ID, several No.2 pencils, and a calculator.

Rich Central Boy's Basketball staying in the hunt!
The Rich Central Boys Basketball team moves one step closer to the prize as they secured another emotional 60-57 overtime win versus Plano High School in the first round of the IHSA Sectionals. This is history in the making because the Olympians appeared in regional competition more than 10 years ago and competed in regionals nearly 20 years ago. 
HOSA Club attends state conference
The HOSA ( Health Occupation Students of America) Club would like to thank district and campus administrators for funding and allowing us to attend the state conference in Decatur, Illinois from March 1 to March 3.

Rich Central Business Professionals of America Update
On March 2-4, 13 Rich Central BPA members (delegates) attended the 2017 Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference (SLC) in Oak Brook, IL. This was another large SLC in the history of the organization! There were over 1,000 BPA delegates from 40 schools at this year's conference.

The RC members were: Alyse Childress, Cameron Dennis, Joshiah Gholar, Anisa Lee, Cameron Maclin, Christian Maclin, Camara Mackey, Grace Oladapo, Akilah Smith, Bryce Smith, Briana Street, Autumn Swanson and Kinneri Thomas. Each member had a wonderful experience and they genuinely appreciate the opportunities that the BPA organization, and District 227, have allowed them to have. They were all wonderful student ambassadors for Rich Central H.S. and District 227!
Rich East Business Professionals of America Students
Eight Rich East students competed in the State Leadership Competition and two of the eight students were selected to represent Rich East and District 227 in Orlando at the National Leadership Conference as voting delegates.

The team consists of: Jessie Arevalo, Aaliyah Johnson, Amilee Dorantes, Connie Sanner, Mackenzie Ferrell, Sam Tijerina, Serah Umoren, and Carolina Mendia, with Amilee Dorantes and Aaliyah Johnson representing Rich East.
Rich South's Briana Griffin qualifies for nationals in Business Professionals of American Competition
On Thursday March 2nd, Briana Griffin took on the state in Personal Financial Management. As a result, she is the newest Rich South National Qualifier for Business Professionals of America. 
Ramp Up with STEM
Ramp Up with STEM is a great way for incoming freshman to get a head start in their high school experience. Program highlights are: reading, writing, algebra, robotics, manufacturing, and culinary. Ramp Up includes meals and transportation and begins Monday, June 12th. 
Rich Central Mock Trial Team Competition update
On Saturday, Feb 25th, the Rich Central Mock Trial team competed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Sixth Municipal District, 8th Annual Mock Trial Competition. Round 1 against Thornton HS, went to the Olympians, with our Defense Team effectively keeping the defendant out of jail, and deflecting all charges. Round 2, against last year's 2nd Place winners, Mother McAuley, again went to the Olympians. The Prosecution Team effectively put their defendant behind bars on the charges of Hazing and Involuntary Manslaughter. Despite our two wins, we did not out score the newcomer Chicago Christian Academy (Palos Heights) nor the the ever evolving Homewood-Flossmoor HS.
