Sprint gives free mobile devices and data packages to Rich East students
The Sprint 1Million Project partnered with the Village of Park Forest and Rich East to give away more than 250 cell phones, tablets, and hot spots with free data packages to promote anytime, anywhere learning. The program aims is to give internet access to students to assist them with reaching their academic potential. To view more pictures, click here! 
Rich South 2nd Annual PBIS Assembly
Rich South High School invited Alumni to return for the opening day PBIS assembly. Students were recognized throughout the assembly as their names were selected for their efforts in fulfilling the PBIS monthly themes during 1st semester. Graduates from the Class of 2006 up to the Class of 2016 were represented in the group of more than 75 alum were able to attend.

Sprint gives free cell phones, tablets, hot spots, and cases to Rich East students
Some 250 high school students in Park Forest stand to become the proud new owners of cellular devices thanks to a new initiative from Sprint.

Park Forest was selected as one of 11 communities across the country by Sprint and the Sprint Foundation to participate in the 1Million Project Pilot Program to benefit youth with internet access at home. Close to 100 communities applied to take part in the program.
 
Rich East alum Briana Gipson presents her research at the Midwest Undergraduate Conference
Proud Rich East alum and a Coe College sophomore Briana Gipson recently presented a research paper on the role of African American soldiers during the Civil War at the Midwest Undergraduate Conference in the Humanities held at Central College in Pella, Iowa. Gipson's research was entitled, "'Hard Won Freedom': Andrew Ford and Struggles for Freedom and Civil Rights Among African-American Civil War Veterans in Cedar Rapids, Iowa."

Chicago Tribune highlights the 44th Big Dipper Basketball Tournament
The Big Dipper, the premier high school basketball tournament known throughout the great state of Illinois started in 1973 by Mr. George Egofske. The Big Dipper and its reputation have been showcased by the longstanding tradition of excellent teams and special people that have made the Dipper one of Illinois' outstanding tournaments.  
District 227 administrators help families in need during the holidays
For most people, the holiday season is a time of family, fun, and celebration. These gatherings can be hindered when families are challenged by economic and financial hardships.

To address this reality, District 227 administrators and staff decided to financially contribute and give 100 families a turkey and $40 Walmart gift card for the holiday season.

District 227 is concerned about the well-being of the entire family.
