Dear Rich Township Students and Families:
Congratulations! You made it to the end of the 2019-20 school year. As we approach the conclusion of the academic year at Rich Township High Schools, I wanted to share how proud I am of our students, families, staff and community for doing your best under these difficult circumstances. We truly cherish your support, flexibility and cooperation over the past two months, which I tried to communicate in this week’s video message.
This correspondence is to communicate important information regarding graduation, grading and summer school. Please read the following communication in its entirety for additional updates.
Class of 2020 Graduation
The virtual graduation video production and yard sign set up began this week at Rich Central and Rich South High Schools. There were many smiles, laughter, and touching moments that occurred that filled our students, families and staff with joy and validated the importance of this event. Celebrating this class and its accomplishments is important to all of us.
We will continue to honor the graduates of Rich South on May 26 and Rich East on May 27 and 28. With the support of Rich Township faculty, staff, administration, Board of Education, and community partners, we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2020 and sharing each campus’ graduation videos with you on or before Friday, June 5.

Device distribution will not occur as we conclude the 2019-20 academic year. More information will be provided in the future regarding device distribution for summer school.
All senior students who were issued a Chromebook during the remote learning period will be able to keep the devices. The Board of Education approved the gift at the May 19, 2020 regular Board meeting. Please note that no additional devices will be distributed to seniors at this time.
All ninth- through eleventh-graders who were issued a Chromebook during the remote learning period will be able to keep the device through summer break. Next school year, we planned to roll out a 1:1 device program, providing all of our students with a Chromebook to ensure they have the support and connectivity they need to thrive in a 21st century learning environment. The extended school closure enabled us to distribute these devices earlier than expected.
Building and Grounds
Our Buildings and Grounds team continues to conduct deep cleanings of all district buildings and technology, which follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The two-step process for cleaning and disinfecting includes wiping and cleaning all surfaces, and the use of an electrolyzed water and mineral solution, which creates a highly functional sanitizer and disinfectant that is applied through a misting machine used by the custodial staff.
As we near the end of the Rich Township school year, I would like to thank you for your continued support as we navigated this spring semester, together. This year has been unprecedented and unpredictable, but our students, families, staff and community have handled it with unity, flexibility and grace. We will be working to keep you updated in the coming weeks regarding summer school, construction progress and information as it relates to next year’s transition to a one-school, two-campus model.
