1:1 Device Pilot Program

Rich South High School is excited to announce that during the spring semester of this school year freshmen students will be issued free Chromebooks for their use in school and at home!

Rich South’s freshmen have been given the unique opportunity to pilot the Chromebook program as part of District 227’s, ongoing work to engage students in innovative learning experiences. Currently, students use Chromebooks throughout the day at school.  Providing them with this technology for use at home will allow them to access new tools and academic supports, to collaborate with classmates and their teachers, and to complete assignments outside of the regular school day.

A Chromebook will be checked out to each student, just like a traditional textbook and, like a textbook, each student will be responsible for carrying their Chromebook throughout the day. Each student will also be expected to charge their Chromebook at home every evening; a single charge lasts about eight hours. Along with the Chromebook, every student will be issued a case to carry this device and keep it safe. Your student’s Chromebook will be labeled with his or her name and school identification number.

We will be hosting an parent informational session on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rich South Library to give parents the opportunity to learn more about how 1:1 technology will open up learning opportunities for District 227 students.
