Bringing History to Life
AP US and AP Language students traveled to Springfield on Friday. November 16th to study first hand the accomplishments, Civil War policies, and life of 16th President Abraham Lincoln.   Students toured the State Capitol Building to see the process of Illinois State Government and visited Lincoln's Home.  In the afternoon, students studied primary source material and interactive exhibits at the Presidential Library and Museum.  The trip ended with a visit to pay respects to Lincoln at Lincoln's tomb and burial site.  During the trip, the study focus was on Lincoln's life and approach to the Civil War but also on his policies towards the emancipation of all African-Americans.
