I am thrilled to be joining the Fine Arts and Communications family as the new principal. Rich Township has a strong tradition of excellence and a promising future for even greater accomplishments. Whether you are a current student, alumnus, parent, employee, or community member, the “Raptor Pride” runs deep, and Rich Township is poised for the next level of greatness.
Every child dreams of success and
education is the primary instrument to realize that dream. In sixth grade, I
decided that my dream was to become a principal. My middle school principal was
the role model and mentor who changed my life. From him I learned the power of
potential and the importance of high expectations. Now, I too encourage young people to see beyond
their current situation, to envision the best version of themselves, and to
relentlessly pursue that future.
I started my career as a teacher
in my home state of South Carolina before relocating to Illinois in 2010. Prior to joining District 227, I had the
privilege of serving the families of Chicago Public Schools as a teacher and an
administrator who turned around the lowest performing high school in Chicago.
These opportunities have provided me with great experiences in education and a
proven track record of school improvement. Moving forward, Rich Township High School will uphold District 227’s mission to focus on students and student success. Our mission will be reinforced by four pillars: academic progress, school pride, post-secondary preparation, and citizenship. With a staff focused on improving teaching and learning, Rich South students will be prepared to compete globally for scholarships and success at selective colleges. As a community, we remained committed to building school spirit and making connections that foster strong relationships and fond memories of high school. An emphasis on post-secondary planning will ensure college and career readiness with a tailored plan that meets each child’s individual needs. Our students will develop good moral character that empowers them to become productive and responsible citizens ready to change the world. Commitment to these four pillars will guide the decisions that impact our students’ achievement.
I value the importance of partnerships with families and community and want to make sure our connection remains strong. I will need your help in designing the future of our beloved school. Our goals are ambitious, and collectively they are achievable. I look forward to having conversations with you individually, as well as, in groups to establish our action plans for student success.
There are amazing things on the horizon, and I look forward to working with you. Together, our potential is limitless. Rich Township Raptors will be able to go anywhere and become anything. Rich Township is a place where children’s dreams become their reality.
