IMPORTANT UPDATE (8/24/2020)

The video conferencing software Zoom experienced widespread outages Monday morning (August 24) in parts of world and the U.S.

The District intended to use Zoom to facilitate 10th-12th grade students' virtual orientation and live stream via our YouTube channel. Due to this disruption in service, administrators pre-recorded the virtual orientation, divided by the subject matter.

The first day of classes for ALL students is August 242020.

Freshman, New and Transfer Students: Students will attend in-person orientation on August 24 and August 25. This group of students will follow their regular class schedule beginning on August 26 following our remote learning plan.

Returning 10th - 12th-Grade Students: Students will attend virtual orientation on August 24 and August 25.  This group of students will follow their regular class schedule beginning on August 26 following our remote learning plan.



Freshmen and New Student Orientation


ALL FRESHMEN AND NEW STUDENTS MUST PARTICIPATE IN IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL ORIENTATION FROM AUGUST 24 - AUGUST 28. 

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!

New students and freshmen MUST participate in in-person orientation on August 24, from 8:00 am – 11:00 am (Make-up time - 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm) and August 25, from 8:00 am - 11:00 am (Make-up time - 2:00 pm; 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm). Your student's time slot will be determined by the student's last name. Please refer to the chart below.  

Orientation will take place at the student's assigned campus. For example: If your student has been assigned to the STEM Campus based on your attendance boundary or instructional program, he/she will attend orientation at the STEM Campus. 

A maximum of 15 students will be in each designated space/room. At the conclusion of their orientation, students will exit the building.

Freshmen and new students MUST participate in virtual orientation on August 26 through August 28. During this portion, students will follow their regular schedule and receive technology training i.e. how to log-in for remote learning instructions, PowerSchool information, etc.

Returning Student Orientation (10th - 12th Grade)


ALL RETURNING 10TH - 12TH GRADE STUDENTS MUST PARTICIPATE IN VIRTUAL ORIENTATION FROM AUGUST 24 - AUGUST 28. 

ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!

Returning 10th-12th grade students MUST participate in virtual orientation on August 24 and August 25. Students will use this time to meet their teachers, discuss academic and behavioral expectations, receive an overview of student support services, etc.

Beginning August 26 through August 28, all returning 10th-12th grade students will follow their regular schedule and receive technology training i.e. how to log-in for remote learning instructions, PowerSchool information, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions


Do I have to attend orientation?

Yes, ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY! All 9th-12th grade students must attend. Rich Township High School requires all incoming freshmen students, transfer, and new students to attend in-person orientation on August 24 and August 25. Returning 10th - 12th-grade students must attend virtual orientation on August 24 and August 25. Orientation is a vital part of the transition to high school and the introduction of new programming.


I'm a freshman student. Do I have to attend in-person or virtual orientation?

All freshmen, transfer and new students must attend in-person orientation on August 24 and August 25.


I'm a sophomore, junior, or senior student. Do I have to attend in-person or virtual orientation?

All returning 10th-12th-grade students must attend virtual orientation on August 24 and August 25.


I'm a parent. May I attend in-person freshman orientation with my freshman?

Yes, parents have the option to attend a parent orientation session while they wait for their student. This will be an opportunity to meet teachers, learn about new school initiatives, and have the opportunity to receive answers to important questions. 


How will my student receive log-in information for virtual orientation?

The log-in information for virtual orientation will be posted on the district and campus websites prior to the scheduled orientation date. Please check back for updates.


What health and safety measures are you implementing?

Masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – Students, staff and visitors are required to wear a mask upon building entry. Students and staff are encouraged to bring their own masks. If students or staff do not have a mask, a reusable/disposable mask will be provided. Visitors will not be allowed on campus without a mask. Additionally, hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the building.

Cleaning - All classrooms and offices will be cleaned daily. Classrooms will be disinfected during the day when space is not in use. Restrooms will be cleaned multiple times per day. Large group areas will be cleaned and misted daily. Deep cleaning will occur every Friday for during remote learning.

Social Distancing - Floor markings will be placed in high traffic areas. Signage will be placed throughout the building to remind students and staff about social distancing. Classroom desks will be marked for proper spacing.

Classrooms - A maximum of 15 students will be in each designated space/room. Desks will be arranged in the same direction in each classroom.
